3. Bike or Run the Oak Leaf Trail

The Oak Leaf Trail is a paved 108-mile trail that surrounds Milwaukee County and provides residents with an opportunity for recreation without even leaving the city. The best place for students to catch the trail is from Juneau Park. From Marquette’s campus, you can continue east on Wisconsin Avenue until the Art Museum and then follow the street to the left as it turns into Prospect Ave. The first green area on right is Juneau Park, if you follow that paved path down toward Lincoln Memorial Drive; it connects to the Oak Leaf Trail. This trail heads north into Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, and Fox Point.

4. Pick up fresh produce at the Westown Farmer’s Market

The Westown Farmer’s Market is located in Zeidler Union Sqaure, which is on Michigan between 3rd and 4th Street, making it easy to access. This market features over 60 vendors selling Wisconsin grown produce, flowers, jewelry, food from local restaurants, and live music. The market is open from 10am-3pm on Wednesdays until October 28th. Come check it out!

5. Hike the Seven Bridges Trail in Grant Park

Located 20 minutes south of Marquette, this 2-mile trail winds through the woods of Grant Park while overlooking Lake Michigan. While on the trail, you will experience the beautiful fall foliage, hear the sound of water rushing in the creek, and see little animals scurrying around. If you’re looking for some haunts to get you in the Halloween spirit, check out the trail after dusk. The bridge on the trail is supposedly haunted as many people have committed suicide or hanged themselves from this bridge. When looking out from the bridge, people have reported seeing glowing lights, hearing voices, or encountering odd human sized creatures.
