Valentine’s day is here, and it is all around us. My entire life I looked forward to this day because it is filled with love, it is my sister’s birthday, and there’s SO. MUCH. CHOCOLATE. This year is a little different because I don’t have that special someone to celebrate with, unlike the past 5 years. Once the calendar turned to February, I knew it would be a hard time for me. But, instead of getting down on myself, I decided to embrace the moment and plan something fun for my friends and me-Galentine’s day.

I have heard of Galentine’s Day, but I had ever participated in it. After searching it on pinterest and twitter, I found that it is the perfect excuse to get all the girls together to practice self care, hype eachother up, and bond with one another. Here’s what I found:
First thing’s first, wear your PJ’s.
This is mandatory! Whether you wear footie pajamas, a matching silk set, or sweatpants and a t-shirt, everything will be much more fun if you are in what makes you comfortable.
Make a snack that everyone will enjoy.
An all time favorite of mine is chocolate covered strawberries. It is super easy to make, here is a fun, easy recipe. Chocolate covered strawberries are fun because you can get creative! Add some fun sprinkles at the end to give it a fun little twist!
Play your favorite games!
Each person brings their favorite game and take turns competing against each other! Something my friends and i like to do is have a Mario Kart tournament on the Wii. It gets super competitive, but it is all fun and games. Other games you could play are Monopoly, Yahtzee, or even Go Fish!
Lastly, enjoy your time together.
There is nothing like being with your best friends. Use this time to bond with one another and forget about the negative events happening in your life. Share positive vibes and do what girls do-empower each other. Whether you have a special someone or not, this is the time to reflect on yourself and be grateful for the girls in your life.
Happy Galentine’s Day!
