It IS Easy Being Green
By Evan Kafka
Although Earth Day has already passed, there is still good reason to pay attention to the place we live in. Now more than ever, we need to be paying attention to our carbon footprint. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to find ways you can make a difference, whether that be investing in reusable products or learning how to properly recycle. Here are 3 ways you can reduce your impact on the Earth and remember: it’s not all or nothing! Every small thing you do is contributing to a better world.

Invest in Some Reusable Products
Buying some reusable grocery bags will save space in your cabinets, as well as even provide a discount at the store! Most grocery stores will give you rewards points or some sort of a deal if you bring in your own bags. Most people already own a reusable water bottle, but that’s one easy way to eliminate a ton of daily plastic use. There are also reusable bags you can use instead of Ziplock. I bought some from Target called Stasher bags, but there are some on Amazon that are just as good!

Learn the Do’s and Don’ts of Recycling
There are actually many things that are typically recycled that aren’t recyclable! Here are a couple of infographics that are specific to the City of Milwaukee regulations — I found this super helpful because not all plastic can be recycled!

DIY Your Cleaning Products
You would be surprised at how easy it is to make your own cleaning products. Some of the most commonly found non-toxic cleaning products that you probably have at home are olive oil, castile soap, baking soda, lemon juice, and vinegar. This website provides cleaning recipes for every surface of your home, in every room of the house.
